I think that about three quarters of the responsibility of an adult is not behaving the way you feel. I’ll admit that there are times where society has deemed elevated emotional conduct as acceptable, and I’m o.k. with that for the most part. I have a few objections over what’s acceptable, but I’ll grant that I’m outvoted and go with the flow.
Usually.
Sometimes though, I find that a particular behaviour will illicit a response from me that isn’t great and so it’s best for everyone involved if I remove myself from the scene. Crying from adults is a good example of where it’s best for me to fuck right off as soon as humanly possible. However, in some circumstances crying grownups are not just accepted, but actually expected, and so I have to calculate my exit time as carefully as possible to minimize people thinking I’m a dick.
It’s a situational thing, and you’ve got to read the room. For example it’s not going to be well received if I abandon crying people at a funeral. But when adults cry I almost always get pissed off, and now we’ve got two adults in an altered state that’s more about feelings than reason. So, I like to think that removing myself from the situation is the adult thing to do, and It’s best for everyone involved.
Except the aforementioned funerals. Gotta stick around for those fuckers.
I’m not sure why I get mad. I think it’s because I really believe that crying doesn’t help, but I suppose there’s a possibility that some people cry when they’re frustrated or confused. And some people get mad when they’re frustrated or confused.
So maybe crying adults confuse me and then I get annoyed.
It doesn’t really matter why though. I’ve got a system and it works for me.
So I was wondering about humans and this constant battle we have with ourselves to stop our feelings from controlling our behaviour. My best guess is that humans and our ancestors have been walking the planet for about six million years. Three hundred thousand of those years for homo sapiens. One would think that if there’s any accuracy to those numbers that we have to be evolving mentally as well as physically. So instincts that served us a few hundred thousand years ago might not be ideal for 2025.
So is it possible that the human race is at a crossroads? Are we at a place and time where empathy and civility and logic are starting to gain some ground? Are we collectively trying to come to terms with the concept that cooperation may in fact trump conflict? If that’s what’s happening then every person in the civilized world is currently struggling every hour of the day to exercise some empathy and not be a barbarian.
Well, not everyone. The barbarians have responded to this evolutionary shift by becoming more barbaric. Because they feel threatened. It’s like the rest of the world is having a party and they don’t like the theme, so instead of not attending, the barbarians have decided that the party is offensive and needs to be shut down.
In this particular instance the barbarians claim that the party people are woke and radical socialists who need to be denied their party by whatever means the barbarians decide is appropriate. Because the crazed party going Liberals are threatening traditional values. Values that only the barbarians possess.
And the whole argument is a gigantic crock of shit. It is and always has been about a specific minority holding and retaining wealth and power for themselves. From feudal lords and kings and queens, to oligarchs and popes and American billionaires.
And the time tested method for a minority to retain power is to promote as much conflict as possible.
And that brings me back to the struggle I mentioned earlier. The struggle to accept the wild concept that competition is fine until that competition becomes destructive and or violent. The idea that every fucking encounter on the planet has to have an obvious winner and a loser. It’s really ridiculous when you take a step back and look at the behaviour. Even our established politics have decided that the best way to manage things is to divide into teams and then fight. And oh yeah………the voters have to pick a team, and then they get to join the fight.
And to top off the insanity, we have this collective denial of the historical reality that constant fighting creates sore losers. Losers that are spoiling for a rematch. A do over that ensures perpetual conflict. We behave this way individually and we behave this way collectively, and all of the isms that we generate are merely excuses to validate the behaviour.
The problem is that when a movement starts that espouses anything even resembling civility, that movement is promptly met with barbarians wielding some sort of violence. And the only defence from that violence is more violence.
And so the human dilemma is how to subdue the violent without becoming mirror images. No one has been able to come up with an answer as of yet, and so we prepare for the inevitable by calling our armies defence forces. But we train them to be offensive forces, because we know in our hearts that the best defence is a good offence.
I think the behaviour is genetic, and I think 99% of us are capable of exercising that genetic ability. I also think that we like it. Violence becomes us. It entertains us, and possession of the ability assures us that we’re prepared to defend our genetic lineage.
The violence I’m referring to isn’t exclusively physical. In fact the physical part of things is just the inevitable result of all the bullshit that preceded fists or bullets flying. Prior to cocking guns there’s usually a lot of cocking off that gets the genetic juices flowing in preparation for battle.
Fox opinion hosts are a great example of the cocks I’m talking about. They’re basically barbarian cheerleaders whose only purpose is to berate, agitate and hate. They’re really good at it too, because they illicit a primal response not just from their followers, but also from their opponents. I personally have felt the deep desire to punch Jesse and Laura in the head almost every time they open their mouths. In fact, sometimes I feel the punching desire from just looking at them.
But I suppress that desire, because I’m an adult and I understand that it’s not morally responsible to always act the way I feel.
So now I’m going to speculate about suppression and the current president of the United States and his entourage of mini me’s.
While the president engages in 5g (golf, grift, grandstanding, gaslighting, gerrymandering) his maga mini me’s are haphazardly dismantling the American democracy. They are blatantly using the governing institutions of the people to attack perceived enemies of 5g man. They have effectively made the American courts and the rule of law irrelevant. They have thrown the entire world economy into perpetual chaos, and imposed an 18% sales tax on 100% of Americans to fund a tax cut for 1% of Americans. They’ve chased away most of the tourists, and replaced their foreign diplomacy with a new motto that reads speak irrationally and carry a big stick. They’ve dismantled weather warning, invited the church into schoolrooms and workplaces, and they’ve relaxed or eliminated pretty much all environmental regulations. They’ve lowered benefits for veterans, and they’ve set the stage for millions of Americans to lose health coverage. They’ve ordered gerrymandering in Texas, they’ve rolled back reproductive rights and they threatened Canada for just about anything they can think of. The latest threat because Canada dared to have an opinion about Gaza without 5g man’s permission. They’ve stripped funding from public education and stopped vaccine research, and they’ve deployed active American military personnel into cities that didn’t vote for 5g.
Sadly, I could go on and on about emoluments and a Qatari jet and the use of the office for personal wealth enhancement. I could list all of the overreach insanity that goes on every day with and to our Southern neighbor, but I can’t help but wonder how the list has gotten so extensive in a country where freedom and American are touted as synonymous.
It’s pretty fucked up, and they’re not even half way through the presidential term,. Also, it bears mentioning that the above list is only a portion of what can’t be hidden. What goes on in the shadows is another matter altogether.
Shadow things like covering up rich men raping underage females on private Islands, and then the Island owner handing over video to a foreign intelligence service. I should clarify that the first part of the last statement is fact. The second part is speculative, but I’m of the understanding that any and all conspiracy theories are welcome in America, so I’m leaving the thought out there.
And so I’m wondering how much longer America is going to supress acting how they feel? Who the hell knows? A person would think that the list I just typed would be enough, but clearly it isn’t. Baseball is still getting played, Nascar goes round and round, and America appears to either not be aware, or not really give a fuck what 5g is up to. It makes me think that there’s a possibility that growling JFK took fluorine out of the water supply and replaced it with Lorazepam.
But I have this persistent ominous feeling that a dam of suppression is about to burst. Afterall there’s only so much Lorazepam.
