It’s A Comfort Thing

I probably could have used the word trust in place of comfort, but I’ve decided that the fact that I don’t trust the Magamericans is the determining cause of my discomfort around all Americans. Unless they wear the hat it’s hard to tell who the crazy ones are, and so there’s always a moment or two of uneasiness when you first meet an American sans chapeau.

So, I’m not one of the people who dislikes the hat. It helps alleviate the confusion around misidentification, and everyone knows up front what they’re dealing with. But not every cult member wears the hat, and if the voting numbers are correct then you have about a forty five percent chance of coming face to face with a venomous entity in disguise. Like a rattle snake without the rattle, or a shark that keeps its dorsal fin submerged.

Maybe MAGA needs to expand their clothing and merch lines to include some alternatives other than t-shirts and ballcaps. Donnie could make a few bucks and the rest of us wouldn’t have to be startled when a seemingly normal person goes off the rails and starts ranting about Antifa terrorists.

I’m thinking that robes would be a good idea. In fact there’s probably a decent number of south of the Mason Dixon line Maga’s that could look in the back of grandpa’s closet and dust off his robe and hood. That would save them a few bucks with an environmentally friendly repurpose. But the robes are sort of reserved for a lynching or a cross burning and they don’t really work for everyday wear. Speaking of crosses I’ve got to say that my Maga radar goes off immediately if I see an American with a prominently displayed crucifix. To be fair though, I think I always got a warning ping on my radar from anyone wearing visible Jesus jewelry. But now the screen signature is much more pronounced because I automatically assume that a crucifix outside your clothing equals closed minded intolerance.

So, essentially Maga.

I think the ideal solution for the Maga merch folks would be to design a badge or button with Trumps name. But they need to substitute the capital T with a small t and then nail a little Jesus statue to that small t. That should work just fine.

Badge or not though, I’m not certain that I’m ever going to be entirely comfortable around Americans ever again. The fact that they’ve allowed one very flawed man to represent them makes me wonder if I can ever say again that our values are aligned. Even when Trump is unalive or unelected I’m not going to be able to shake a sense of wariness that an underlying psychological condition permeates America, and that affliction isn’t going to disappear with Don’s exit.

I’ve puzzled over the attraction to Trump for quite some time. What I’ve finally decided is that his supporters like being part of a gang of bullies. It makes them feel powerful, and they’re willing to sacrifice their own freedoms and their democracy for a false sense of superiority. And in order to feel superior they needed someone to be inferior. An enemy to pick on and so they’ve lumped transexuals, immigrants, blacks, Muslims, atheists, university graduates, gays, Europeans, Chinese, Canadians and liberals into the inferiority category. Now they have enemies from within, and enemies from without and it’s time to get their schoolyard bully on.

It’s that simple. Middle school bully is the new American mantra, and like I said, I don’t see it vanishing when Don takes his billions in corruption cash and fucks off back to Florida or to his new Trump tower in Gaza.

So, I really believe that the damage is done, and even if the Americans decide to electorally silence the bullies, that the repair effort for Canada and the rest of the planet is going to be a generational thing. Assuming of course that a repair is possible at all.

My pessimism over that repair is well illustrated from Trump’s Japan performance. Besides his Japan rising from the ashes remark and his old man wanderoff, there was his speech to the troops. From start to finish that speech was as clear an indication of delusion as could ever be provided. He lied his ass off from start to finish and America just shrugged.

I mean holy fuck America. He lied about investment in your country, he lied about stopping wars. In fact he repeated his claim that no other American president had ever stopped a war. He said inflation was defeated and that grocery prices were down and America had never been more glorious or prosperous. He bullshitted about Portland on fire and told the troops he plans to send more soldiers to American cities. He lied about migration numbers under Biden and made up this story about old Joe claiming to be a pilot.

And that’s just an average day for the president of the Americans.

So, if the American people aren’t in a full scale panic to remove this man, then what the fuck is the rest of the world supposed to think about Americans in general? I’ll answer that question. We think that you approve, or that your system of governance is so corrupted that 813 people, all of whom are billionaires, and some of whom are Epstein billionaires are actually in charge of all three branches of your government.

And those 813 don’t give one fuck about Americans, so it’s a stretch to think they care about anyone else. Which translates into concluding that present day America is a threat to the rule of law, to democracy and to Canada.

I’m not exaggerating either. Mr. Trump has turned the concept of justice in the U.S. into rules for thee but not for me, and no one seems to be able to do anything about it since the supreme court granted him a free pass to indulge his natural instincts. Instincts that include using tariffs for extortion and using the army as his personal police force.

I think its only a matter of time until a false flag incident occurs at the Canadian border when l’Orange decides he needs the navy to blow up a few lobster fishing boats somewhere between New Brunswick and Maine. Because those fucking Canadians are probably smuggling fentanyl that’s killing ten million Americans every month, when the real reason is an ad that hurt his feelings.

I say this because in case Americans aren’t paying attention. there is absolutely no limit to how low and despicable this man will go in order to look like a tough guy or to enrich himself.

I repeat. No limit. Nothing is off the table, and as long as there are Americans willing to fulfill his demands then I really don’t see how anyone or any country can trust America to behave with civility. I also can’t help but wonder how Donnie will behave if the supreme court finds some honor, and tells him he can’t keep prosecuting non-fellators, declaring emergencies and tweeting tariffs every time he feels the need to demonstrate his bully capacity.

I don’t expect him to respect anything the supreme court decides anyway unless it’s favorable, and you can bet your ass that the Justice department isn’t going to charge him with anything no matter how vile or illegal his actions.

So I’m not sure what’s next for America. I think the midterms are going to be a tipping point. If he can’t pre-rig the voting then his only option is to reject the results. He’s already moving in that direction with gerrymandering demands of the red states and threats of election intimidation at blue state polling stations. And I fully expect the congress and maybe the senate to not swear in and seat any democrat that wins because Don disputes the results.

And that’s assuming he doesn’t manage to invoke the insurrection act prior to the elections so he can cancel voting altogether. Because there’s an emergency.

We’ll see shortly I guess, but there is very little left that would surprise me either from Don or from America in general. I think Don is mentally unwell, but I’ve got to say that I had higher hopes for the rest of America. But that hope is dwindling every day as the corruption spectacle unfolds in plain view and Americans sit back and suck it.

So yeah…..it’s an uncomfortable thing.
