Attitude Shift

After some thought I’ve concluded that I’ve always held a view of Americans that’s analogous to Stevenson’s Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Most of the time the good doctor was in, and so I didn’t have a great deal of difficulty tolerating the Mr. Hyde Americans.

But something has changed and I’m not certain if it’s my attitude, the Americans or a combination of both. I suspect it’s the latter, but that leads me to believe in my heart that there’s a cause and effect situation going on here, and the surge of Hydonism in America has altered my attitude.

A tipping point where I’m finding it difficult to distinguish between the duality of the current American persona. And so I’ve decided that for my safety and sanity that’s its best if I assume that the voting majority are in fact Hyde’s , with a secondary assumption that Hyde’s are gonna Hyde.

It’s possible that my sanity might be dealt something of a reprieve if the Hyde spokespersons would stop lying. That would be nice. Because I’m looking at what the Hyde’s are doing, and then listening to what they’re saying about those things they’re doing, and it’s just not computing. That and the terminal hypocrisy, which I guess is just more lying, but with convenient amnesia.

But, no matter how a person defines the Hyde rhetoric I can’t make myself accept that it’s a sane way to behave. And I’m alarmed that the only way I can see to adjust the scales of sanity is to do so forcefully. I say that because I’m pretty sure that I’m not crazy, and so if I can see the facts and listen to and watch the video, then it’s difficult for me to see why the MAGA people can see and hear the same thing and either:

A) see something completely different.

B) Deny the existence of the very thing in front of them.

C) Label the reality as fake.

And so, assuming that America feels the need to venture back into the land of sanity, then it appears that it’s going to take some effort to de-program the cultists. And that effort is going to have to be forceful in one manner or another.

I tried to give credence to the idea that there are methods that can be employed to rein in the Hydes. Methods that don’t involve weaponry or any form of physical violence. Things like logic and litigation for example. However, it’s not looking viable at the moment when neither the Senate, House or the courts appear to have any of that lauded balance of power or affection for reality. And if you have a senate and congress that are nutcases, then it’s a safe bet they were elected by other nutcases, and that doesn’t bode well for an amenable transition of the Hydes back to Jekyll’s.

At least the courts are sort of trying, but they don’t enforce the law, and eventually it’s going to take an enforcement action to put the brakes on the power of one individual to executive order fuck up the world.

One person with undefined power is bad enough, but it’s immeasurably worse when that one person is Donald Trump.

Because that boy ain’t right, and there’s something wrong with the system when all an ain’t right president has to do to assume the powers of a dictator is to declare an emergency. Who knew that the key to destroying a couple hundred years of democracy was one man with no integrity and a host of psychological aberrations.

Including this very weird obsession with never ending praise and ass kissing adoration.

And for reasons I can’t fathom, he manages to find a flock of fellators that are willing to bend the knee, or depending on the circumstance, knees, to assure him that he is indeed exquisite. Plus presents. You have to bring him a present.

I don’t think the lackey lineup is really a surprise for me though. I’ve seen these people my whole life and they’re everywhere, and so I suppose if you’re the type that’s willing to permanently throw away any shred of dignity or honor for a few moments of feeling powerful, then you might as well go for the big time and brown your nose in presidential feces.

But what was and what continues to be a surprise for me are the volume of Americans that aren’t immediately infuriated each and every time the fellators stand in front of them and spin their latest fable.

Granted, there is starting to be some resistance in volume. Protests and the like, but I think it’s probable that Donald see’s this as both an effrontery and an opportunity. So it’s likely that his offence at the gall of the radical leftists will present the opportunity for him to declare another emergency. And civil disobedience to his rule is a panacea for all of the problems facing the House of Orange.

I really believe the Insurrection Act is coming. What I’m less certain of is if it’s going anywhere once King Don fashions it’s latest invocation. Right at this moment the American people are smack dab in the middle of a constitutional crisis. I think though that the crisis I’m referring to is seen as a philosophical abstraction by most Americans. The maga’s likely don’t see any issue at all, and if by chance a percentage of them are in fact aware, then I’m sure they see this crisis as something invented by pearl clutching radical leftists.

So, back to the Insurrection act.

Established in 1807, the act has been invoked not once, not twice, but thirty times since it was written. Almost all of it’s uses have been black and white. It’s been used to forcefully stop black people from rioting and to stop white supremacists from insurgencies. Other than that it’s been used as a capitalist tool to smash union activities, but for the most part it’s been a race related application.

The last time it was used was by Bush the elder after the L.A. cops beat the sit out of Rodney King.

But Donnie has a bit of a different situation going on here. For starters the people protesting right now aren’t exclusively black. If that were the case then I’m certain that Don would have no hesitation at all, because he’s still pissed that he was talked out of calling in the National Guard during the Black Lives Matter protests.

And if there’s one thing that’s certain about the second coming of Don, it’s that he’s not feeling any restraint to act on whatever madness pops into his head. It’s just a question of if Americans have the tools to rein him in before he declares a state of permanent martial law.

Or decides to nuke a hurricane this fall.

And so it looks to me like it’s up to the American people to put the brakes on this and all future asses that sit in their oval office. Because a quick look around the executive branch should confirm that spine and intellect are in short supply.

The display is stupefying. An Attorney General who thinks it’s perfectly fine to follow an unhinged executive order to open an investigation into people Donald dislikes. The good news for Pam is that she’s also iffy about the necessity for due process for those people Don dislikes. This is good for Pam, because then it expedites the transfer of the accused to Central American gulags.

Because they’re criminals. Criminals, because without that due process, an accusation from the Justice department is now a done deal.

Maybe it’s just me, but the concept that America can deport criminals without a hearing or trial sounds like the first step in a process that eventually builds rail lines to Buchenwald.

And oh yeah, before I forget, Pam also joined in with telling the Supreme Court to go fuck themselves.

Also let us not forget RFK.Jr. An anti-vax health secretary and deep state is out there doing evil believer.

A fox opinion host who is now the chatty secretary of defence, and a Vice President who’s primary function appears to be travelling around the world cosplaying as a playground Alpha male, while spitting out degrading insults to people that thought they were allies of America.

He’s doing a pretty good job of it too. Full marks to J.D. for his enthusiasm.

And then there’s an Education Secretary who appears to be uneducated. Which is kind of odd. I’ve only seen a couple of clips of her but she uses the term I was unaware of that, an awful lot. I guess she’s at least being honest but it would seem to me that she should know that A.I. isn’t A one.

I’m not going to elaborate on Marge and Kristi or the rest of the Trump retinue. But I will say that if what we’re looking at in Washington is the cream of the crop, then what havoc are the lower and lesser Trump appointee’s sowing?

I’d like to say that I’ve got the popcorn out and I’m watching for lot’s of shit to hit lots of fans in America. Because why not fuck up the economy at the same time as you’re deciding that civil rights are only for Americans that are Don devotee’s.

But it’s not popcorn time. This is some worrisome behavior from a next door neighbor.

It makes me feel European. Kind of French and Polish circa 1939.

  1. Who knew you were so eloquent Tom! A good read, and one that echoes many of my own concerns. I wish I could add something positive or something remotely close to a solution, but I cannot. I will simply keep reading! Well done.
